Subclass 500

Student Visa

This visa allows you to experience Australia while studying in world class educational institutions. Currently, you will be allowed to work for 48 hours a fortnight during the semester and unlimited hours during school breaks. If you are studying a Doctoral degree (research), you would be eligible to work full time hours while studying.

Subclass 590

Student Guardian Visa

If the student is under 18 years old, an adult relative of the student may accompany and live with the child in Australia with a subclass 590 visa. For some exceptional cases, the student may even be 18 years or older.

Important notes:

  • It is critical to show that the student intends to stay in Australia TEMPORARILY.

  • As part of the application process, the student must submit a GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant) explaining the value of the course and why they will be going back to their home country after the studies.

  • Dependents of the applicant such as the husband or dependent children can accompany the student while they study in Australia

Application requirements:

✓ Completed forms

✓ Identity documents

✓ Evidence of intended course (Certificate of Enrolment)

✓ If under 18, evidence of intended arrangement

✓ Develop the GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant).

✓ Make sure you have passed the necessary English test requirement.

✓ Acquire health insurance for the duration of your stay.

✓ Attend medical assessment when required.
